The quality Gap - Do you really know who is on your roof?

Consider how to specify the requisite installation skills to deliver quality from design all the way on to the jobsite. Examine the answer to the question, who’s working on my roof?

At the completion of this session attendees will be able to:

  • Recall the source for requisite skills to include in specifications.
  • Cite that certified technicians are listed on a national database and are prepared to display their credentials on the job.
  • Remember that certifications can be verified on the job sites with a QR code.
  • Find NRCA sample language of PROcertification© requirements for inserting into specifications.

SPEAKER(S) BIO(S): Shane Muncy, BECxP, CxA+BE, CSI and IIBEC Member, director of PROCertification business development

Muncy has worked as a manager in the commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal industry since 1993 and has gained vast exposure and extensive knowledge of the industry. During his tenures as project manager/estimator with the third and fifth largest roofing contractors in the U.S., he has been involved with numerous large projects involving the Army and Navy, universities and school districts, unique multistory office buildings, complex high-rise hotels, multifamily complexes, industrial warehouses, retail developments, and hospitals and other health care facilities.

Muncy’s firsthand experience in the construction field helped him to realize the importance and value of consulting and commissioning. When working in a consultant role, his construction background allowed him to accurately assess project envelope needs and communicate them to all parties. As a consultant, his depth of experience was invaluable in assisting owners, developers, property managers, construction managers, general contractors and architects to design, build and maintain a watertight structure.

Muncy’s combined experience in the construction and consulting industries equipped him with the extensive expertise and background to become the director of PROCertification business development at the National Roofing Contractors Association. NRCA represents all segments of the roofing industry as the most respected trade association and leading authority in the roofing industry for information, education, technology and advocacy. Muncy is passionate and dedicated to educating and supporting roof system installers in achieving their goal of producing long-lasting, high-quality projects. By using NRCA resources and PROCertified® installers, design professionals increase the likelihood of long-term success on their projects. A drive for quality in workmanship, broad knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to clearly communicate with others empower Muncy to exemplify the three core values of NRCA PROCertification: Professionalism, Precision and Pride.
